2 POEMS BY JOSE JASON CHANCOCO

VERSION 2

A deep breath in between yawns
drenched my eyes to the sea of surroundings.
 Spawning colors and shapes

as my iris scanned the edges.
The brute of flesh in drooping
 grip of stray potency augmented,

as if to dip its arid lips
to the constant spray of nourished
 breaths as Woman-Flesh was gliding.

Though her body rhymed with the voices,
 with norms of fashion and grace;
 passion tarried to the spectral.

When her breast longed to press
with another, one similar to her own,
 as two Woman-Flesh commingle.

FOR YOUR PERUSAL

At night, when the stars are smothered
By rudiments of dark. And the moon is
Embraced by the despondency of light.

There is a blunder cowering from
The gaze of the heedless. For while
  The mechanical mold of magnanimity

Is squelching its buccal with bounty
And carouse: A living flesh with hoary
Keratin crawls the streets for its dregs.

And while its sound, a blatherskite
  And its operator, a lackey--drone
The need of this flesh to divest

Itself of hunger and so receive no
  Adulation but protests--far from
  The programmed gape. Fagots are

  Stacked before the impatient stake
That has no plans of waiting for
The sun's flame to broil the voice.
